Typically collapse and very less or no residual air remains inside. Take an example of ketchup when the consumer removes half the contents from the spout pouch, it collapses meaning no air goes inside so ketchup will not come in contact with residual air inside the pouch leading to better life. In the case of a bottle when half of the ketchup is consumed then balance is all air which spoils the contents remaining inside.
Huge amounts of energy and resources (heat & water) are used to produce a Glass Bottle. Even at time of filling there is water used to wash the bottlers with water. All these resources are not required in case of spout pouches which are hygienic, food grade and ready to fill. When compared with PET bottles also Spout Pouches are a clear winner.
